Laken Tharp serves with Emet Ministries, where she is passionate about helping others know and love Jesus more deeply. She is originally from Harrisburg, Illinois, and came to faith during her junior year of college at the University of Southern Indiana. It was at USI that Laken realized salvation is not found in being “good enough,” but in trusting fully in the finished work of Jesus Christ. This truth transformed her heart and gave her a new desire to honor God and make His name known.

Her favorite verse, 2 Corinthians 12:9, reminds her that God’s grace is sufficient and His power is made perfect in weakness. Laken’s favorite part of serving in college ministry is walking alongside young women as they grow in their understanding of who God is and how His Word shapes every part of life. Having entered college knowing things about God, but not truly knowing Him, she now loves walking with students as their eyes are opened to a real, personal relationship with Him.

Outside of ministry, Laken enjoys spending time with her husband, Gabe, visiting coffee shops, thrifting, and finding new TV shows to watch. Some of her favorite books include Follow Me by David Platt and We Died Before We Came Here by Emily Foreman.
